FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the main components of the scheme?

The GTES comprises a Training and Placement component up to 12 months and a possibility of employment.

2. Who is eligible for the scheme?

Unemployed graduates.

3. What are the benefits of the scheme?

Employers will have the opportunity to employ graduates with specific skills according to their needs. Graduates will have an opportunity to up skill themselves and improve their employability.

4. How is it different from YEP?

YEP (Youth Employment Programme) focuses on placement whereas the GTES focuses more on tailor-made training programmes and related placement.

5. If I’m a diploma holder, can I participate in the scheme?

No the scheme is intended for graduates.

6. What type of training will the graduate be offered?

Training and placement will be customised according to employers’ needs.

7. Can an employer register the graduate under YEP after the training?

No, YEP is a placement scheme whereas the GTES stresses on employment.

8.Does the graduate need to go through an interview before being selected?

Yes an interview will be carried out by the employer based on the graduate’s field of studies and his/her willingness to participate in the scheme.

9.Does the graduate need to pay for the training?

No, the GTES is a Government financed scheme. The budget provides for up to Rs 80,000 per eligible unemployed graduate.

10. Who will deliver the courses?

The employer will identify the needs and mount courses in association with TEIs and TIs. Training will be delivered by TEIs, TIs, In-house MQA approved courses and through industry certifications.

11.Will the graduate get a certificate after the training?

An appropriate certificate will be given for successful completion of all award courses and an appropriate attestation will be given for all non award courses.

12. Will the graduate get a salary during the training and placement period?

The graduate will be provided a minimum stipend of Rs 6000 per month by the HRDC during the period of training and placement.
